At Her Own Sky, we built HerOS because we know what it's like to juggle everything — business, family, life — with limited support. We also know how precious your data is, and we take protecting it seriously.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We've written this in plain language because legal jargon is exhausting, and you deserve clarity.

What Information We Collect

Information You Give Us:

• Account Information: Your name, email address, and password when you create an account
• Profile Details: Optional information like your business name, role/title, and preferences
• Tasks & Calendar Data: The tasks, events, notes, and goals you create in HerOS
• Financial Information: Budget data, bill reminders, and savings goals you track (we never see your actual bank account details)
• Self-Care Logs: Your self-care activities, energy levels, and wellness tracking
• Communication: Messages you send us through support or feedback forms

Information We Collect Automatically:

• Usage Data: How you use HerOS (which features you love, which you skip, how often you open the app)
• Device Information: Your device type, operating system, app version, and unique device identifiers
• Log Data: IP address, browser type, timestamps of your activity

Information from Third Parties:

• Google OAuth: If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile photo (we don't access your Gmail or other Google data unless you explicitly grant permission)
• Apple Sign-In: If you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email (or Apple's privacy relay email if you choose)

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide HerOS: Create your account, sync your data, and make the app work seamlessly across devices
• Personalize Your Experience: Learn your patterns (like peak energy times) to help you schedule smarter
• Improve HerOS: Understand which features help you most so we can build better tools
• Communicate with You: Send important updates, respond to your questions, and share new features (you can opt out of marketing emails anytime)
• Keep You Safe: Prevent fraud, detect security issues, and protect your account
• Comply with Legal Obligations: Respond to legal requests when required by law

How We Share Your Information

We only share your information in these limited circumstances:

• Service Providers: Trusted partners who help us run HerOS (like cloud hosting, analytics, and email services). They're contractually required to protect your data and only use it for HerOS.
• Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or government request
• Business Transfers: If Her Own Sky is acquired or merged, your data may transfer to the new owner (but this Privacy Policy still applies)
• With Your Consent: If you explicitly ask us to share your information (like exporting your data or connecting to other apps)

Your Data is Encrypted & Secure

We use industry-standard security measures:

• Encryption in Transit: All data sent between your device and our servers is encrypted (TLS/SSL)
• Encryption at Rest: Your data is encrypted when stored on our servers
• Secure Authentication: Passwords are hashed and salted (we never store plain-text passwords)
• Regular Security Audits: We monitor for vulnerabilities and keep our systems updated

But no system is 100% secure. We do our absolute best, but we can't guarantee perfect security. Use a strong, unique password and enable two-factor authentication (when available).

Your Rights & Choices

You have control over your data:

• Access Your Data: You can view, download, or export your data anytime from the app
• Update Your Data: Edit your profile, tasks, and preferences whenever you want
• Delete Your Data: Delete your account and all associated data from Settings → Account → Delete Account (this is permanent and irreversible)
• Opt Out of Marketing: Unsubscribe from promotional emails via the link at the bottom of any email
• Limit Data Collection: You can disable certain features (like analytics or personalization) in Settings

If you're in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA:

• Right to access, correct, or delete your personal data
• Right to data portability (export your data)
• Right to restrict or object to processing
• Right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority

Data Retention

We keep your data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently delete your data within 30 days (except where we're legally required to retain it, like for tax records).

Children's Privacy

HerOS is not intended for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If we discover we've collected data from a child under 13, we'll delete it immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you via email or in-app notification. Your continued use of HerOS after changes means you accept the updated policy.
